Information:
August 5, 1837: Richard bought from the
Bureau of Land Managment in Fort Wayne, Indiana 160 acres consisting of the SE
quarter of Section 11 in Township 32 north of Range 8 east.

1840: Richard lived in Jackson Township,
Hocking County (now Vinton County), Ohio with his wife and baby boy. He was a
farmer. [census-Ohio]
1842: Richard settled in Troy Township,
Whitley County, Indiana. [Goodspeed,1882]
1849: Richard pledged $5 in materials
towards the construction of the Methodist Episcopal Church. It was the first
church in the township.[Goodspeed,1882]
1850: Richard was a farmer and lived in
Troy Township, Whitley County, Indiana.[census-Ind]
1860: Richard was a farmer and lived in
Whitley County, Indiana with his wife, 5 sons, 2 daughters and 26 year old
Elizabeth Roberts. The value of his real property was $4,000 and his personal
property was $689. 
November 1862: Richard went to
Mitchelville, Tenneessee to bring home his son William who was striken with
spinal fever. [PenApp#224418]
1870: Richard and his wife were farming in
Troy Township, Whitley County, Indiana. His real property was valued at $5000
and his personal property at $1000. Rachel, Franklin, and Delilah were still
living at home. 
1880: Richard and his wife were farming in
Troy Township, Whitley County, Indiana. His daughter Rachel, son John, and
grandson Elmer were living with them.

Indiana. To Delilah Vanderford, wife in lieu of dower and at her decease the
remaining estate to my children. John C. Vanderford, Jesse Vanderford, Rachel

W. Vanderford deceased, the 2 children of William Riley Vanderford, deceased.
