At the time of his marriage, Anderson was living in Raleigh, North Carolina. [Holcomb,1983a]

1850:
Anderson was a carpenter and living in Orange County, North Carolina with his wife, samll daughter and son. Living with them was Jane Waddell (his sister-in-law?), Susan Fawcett and William Cowins, a typist. Also living with them was Martha Davy, a mulatto, and her two small daughters. [census-NC]

1870:
Virginia, Anderson's widow, was living in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina with her two sons. Manalcus was employed as a huckster. [census-NC]

1880:
Virginia was living her her son Thomas and his family in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. She was suffering from consumption. [census-NC]
