Information:
1860: Hampton was farming in Union
County, South Carolina. [census-SC]
September 11, 1861: Hampton enlisted at
Mount Tabor, South Carolina in Company H, 15th South Carolina Infantry.

October 13, 1862: Hampton was in the
hospital at Winder recovering from a wound. [NA - Mil
Rec]
November 24, 1862: Hampton returned to
duty. [NA - Mil Rec]
July 2, 1863: Hampton was wounded in the
battle at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and later died. He was with McLaw's
Division, Longstreet's Corp., and involved in the heavy fighting in the "Rocky
Knoll" and "Wheatfield." [NA - Mil Rec]
February 14, 1876: S.M. Wood acted as
guardian for Ellen and Mary during the probate of their grandfather's
(James 2032) estate. [UC

June - August 1876: Ellen and Mry were in
Union County, South Carolina, but not living together. Ellen was residing 5
miles from the town of Union and Mary was residing 18 miles from town.
