Elijah and Jane were living in Ashe County, North Carolina.

November 1813 to February 1814:
Elijah was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Robert Doak, in the Regiment of Tennessee Volunteers commanded by General Andrew Jackson in the war with the Creek Indians. He volunteered at Campbell County, Tennessee on or about the month of November 1813 for the term of six months and was honorably discharged at Knoxville, Tennessee about February 1814. [Adams]

1830:
The family was living in Ray County, Missouri.

1840:
Elijah, Jane and Sampson were living in Richmond Township, Ray County, Missouri. [census-MO]

1850:
