Azariah, Susan and the children still living at home were farming in McDonald County, Missouri. In 1860 Azariah Jr was working as a miner and Manerva's 4 year old daughter Elizabeth Nelson was living with them. [census-MO]

1857:
Smith Elkins defeated Azariah in the election to fill the vacancy in the county legislature. Azariah walked to Jefferson City to contest the election. [HistMO]
