January 4, 1945 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, d. January 5, 2008 in College Grove, Williamson County, Tennessee. Daughter of Baxter Caterson, Jr. (cate7001) and Charlotte Williams.

Information:

Kirk is a third generation pilot and member of the Calfiornia Flying Farmers. It must have been the "hop" his grandfather, Otis Vanderford (6003) took him on January 29, 1947 before he was even three. Kirk's first long flight right after getting his license was from San Jose to Long Beach, California. We were going to the Long Beach Grand Prix. After landing we were directed to the tie down area and the Lear Jet landing behind us followed. As we parked we saw my grandfather, Charles E. Williams (will6001) who was picking us up and a whole lot of "press type" people with cameras and TV call signs. (What was Charlie up to?) They rolled out a red carpet to the lear jet and Raymond Burr (of Perry Mason and Ironside fame) got out. This impressed Charlie (who was in his nineties at the time) so much that when we were leaving he was over at the flight school signing up for lessons. [Sherry]
