1755, 1758 and 1760: Reuben was listed by
his father, Samuel Moss, Sr. on the Tax List of Granville County, North
Carolina. [Wicasta]
May 21, 1759 (Orphans Court): William, aged
9 years, orphan of Samuel Wheeler, bound to Reuben Moss, to learn ShoeMaker's
trade. [Wicasta]
April 26, 1760: Reuben was named executor
of his father's (Samuel Moss) of Granville County, North Carolina.

August 11, 1760: Reuben bought 120 acres on
Nutbush Creek, Granville County, North Carolina. [Wicasta]
September 27, 1768: Reuben sold the 120
acres on Nutbush Creek, Granville County, North Carolina.

1771: Reuben made an ensign in the State
Militia under Major John William, Jr. [Wicasta]
June 15, 1772: Reuben bought 215 acres on
both sides of Crooked Run adjacent to Samuel Moss.

February 3, 1773: Reuben bought another 135
acres on both sides of Nutbush Creek. On the same day he also bought 241 more
acres on both sides of Crooked Run, in Granville County, North Carolina.

1782, 1787 and 1789: Rueben is taxed for
592 acres of land. [Wicasta]
June 10, 1783: Certificate from state of
North Carolina to Capt. Reuben Moss: "To attendance in classing and delivering
the 12 months Continental...the state troops and 18 months Cont.
soldiers..sixteen days at 7/6--6 pounds." On reverse "June 1783. This will
certify that Capt. Reuben Moss served the within time. /s/ Joseph Taylor, Col.
G.C." Below - Reuben Moss made oath that he has rec/d no satisfaction for Ye

1784: Voucher LO.14.0: $89 "For Sundries
furnish'd and cash paid paid the militia of NC, VA, and SC as allow'd by the
auditors of Hissborough Districtas. [Miles]
August 6, 1784: Bond, $500 of Reuben Moss
for one year to provide an ordinary at his plantation "..if therefore the said
Reuben Moss doth constantly find and provide in his said ordinary good clean
wholesome Diet & Lodging for Travelers & Stable, Corn, fodder &
pasturage for there horses for & During the term of one year from the date
hereof then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force."

August 1786: Henderson District, Granville
County, North Carolina - Reuben Moss - 2 males (white) 21-60, 7 males (white)
under 21 and over 60, 3 females (white) for every age, 5 blacks from 12 to 50
and 5 blacks under 12 and over 60. [Miles]
1789: Reuben was permitted to keep a tavern
at his house. [Wicasta]
1794-1813: During this time Reuben deeded
property to his son-in-law Ransom Smith (Elizabeth's husband) 3 slaves: Rachel,
Peter and Milly , to his son Turner land on Nutbush Creek and to his son Howell
land on Crooked Run [Miles]
June 15, 1813 (proved May court
1819): Reuben had already deeded cetain properties to his children. This
will provided for the rest of the children, his wife and the remainder of his
estate. 
January 1, 1820: Acct. of the sale of
Reuben Mofes property sold Feb. 26, 1819 (this is an extensive inventory
including shoemaker's tools (bought by Turner Mofs); two spinning wheels (one
bought by Franklin Mofs); one flax wheel (bought by Bennett Mofs); one loom
(bought by Bennett Moss). Buyers included Turner Mofs, Bennet Mofs, Franklin
Mofs, Howel Mofs, Saml. Mofs, Mercellas Mofs and Thomas Mofs (do not know who
Thomas is). At bottom: "Deduct from the amt. above stated $15.01 for the hire
of Dolly who is willed away to Joshua Mofs and who was hired out not as the
