1825:
Anson accompanied his brother Samuel Revis Moss to Texas, where Samuel purchased 11 leagues from Antonio Manchaca for $125 in gold. [OWT]

1846:
A. F. appears on the 1846 Tax List for Robertson County, Texas. [census-TX]

December 25, 1849:
A. F. signed a petition from the citizens of Limestone County complaining of Caddo, Hainai (Ioni), Anadarko, and Delaware Indians stealing horses, killing livestock, and "burning the praries woods and etc." They asked Governor Peter H. Bell to compel the Army to remove the Indians beyond the line of settlement. Page 1 , Page 2

1850:
Anson's wife Eliza had died leaving him with baby John. He had remarried and was farming in Limestone County, Texas. According to the Slave Schedule, Anson owned 8 slaves. It would appear that this might be a family - a male, a female and 6 children ranging from 15 years old to a baby.[census-TX]

Patent Date June 12, 1855:
Anson received his patent for 1280 acres in Limestone County, Texas.[TXland]

Patent Date June 30, 1855:
Anson received the patent for another 320 acres. [TXland]

1860:
Anson and his family were farming in Limestone County, Texas. The value of his real estate was estimated at $27,000 and his personal property at $14,000. According to the Slave Schedule, Anson had 9 slaves, a 50 year old male, three females 20, 18, and 17, and 4 children 10, 7, 3, and 2. He also had three slave houses for them to live in.

Civil War:
A. F. was a Captain in the 12th Texas Cavalry, Company K, Limestone County Mounted Rifles. His son, John W. joined as the bugler. [CWrec]

1870:
Anson and the family were still farming in Limestone County, Texas. But after the war his real estate was now valued at $4,000 and his personal property at $1,075. It appears that Richard Moss (a black man) and his family stayed on after the war.

1880:
Anson, Nancy and the four youngest were farming in Erath County, Texas. [census-TX]
