Adam enlisted at Modena, Missouri as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company F in the Mercer County Battalion Six Months Militia. He was elected Major of the Battalion on the 25 or 26 of September 1861. [Nigh]

Adam served as Justice of the Peace in Mercer County, Missouri. [Nigh]
