enlisted as a Private in Company H in the 4th Regiment of the Provisional
Enrolled Missouri Militia. [na-Nigh]
June 16, 1864 - October 21, 1864: George
enlisted as a Private in Company C of the 48th Regiment of the Iowa Volunteer
Infantry. 
February 11, 1865 - August 31, 1865: George
enlisted as a corporal in Company D of the 51st Regiment of the Missouri
Infantry Volunteers. He enlisted at Modena, Mercer County, Missouri and was
discharged at St. Louis, Missouri. [na-Nigh]

1890: George appears on the Surviving
Soldiers Special Census Schedule. He is listed in Modena, Mercer County,
Missouri. He served for 3 months in 1864 in Company C, 48th Iowa Infantry as a
private. Then as a corporal for 6 months from March to September 1865 in
Company D, 51st Missouri Infantry. 
1900: George, Amanda and the two youngest
daughters were farming in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri.
