William and Amanda Ann were farming next door to his father in Chambers County, Alabama. [census-AL]

May 1862 to spring 1865:
William was a Confederate soldier belonging to Ferrell's Battery formerly Montgomery's Artillery Battalion attached to Roddy's Cavalry Brigade, of Alabama Volunteers.

1880:
The family was farming in Morris County, Texas. Amanda is listed as having heart disease. [census-TX]

1900:
William and his family by his second wife were farming in Lewis Township, Scott County, Arkansas. [census-AR]

June 8, 1901:
William applied for a Civil War Pension from the State of Arkansas for his service during the war. It was approved for $50.

April 1, 1905:
After the death of her husband, Mahala applied for a widow's Civil War Pension. It was approved August 14, 1905.

February 20, 1911:
Mahala received her land patent under the Homestead Act of 80 acres in Scott County, Arkansas from the Bureau of Land Management.
